Quilt tops, bindings and whole quilts
Quilt tops and bindings
A pieced top, a frayed edge or a quilt that needs finishing can be brought to the table alongside the hems and zippers. ALL-SEW works on quilt tops, bindings and whole quilts.
A finished top is not a finished quilt
Piecing a quilt top is the part most people enjoy. What waits afterward is the edge: raw layers of top, batting and backing that have to be squared, trimmed and closed before the quilt can be used or washed. Tops that sit folded in a closet for years are almost always waiting on that last step.
Edges on a used quilt wear first. Binding that has frayed through at the corners, a seam that has opened along one side, a stretch where the stitching gave way after many washes: each of these is a repair that decides whether the quilt lasts another decade or comes apart in the next load.

Tops, bindings and whole quilts
ALL-SEW works on quilt tops, bindings and whole quilts. A binding is the narrow strip of fabric folded over the raw edge and stitched down, and it takes more wear than any other part of the quilt. Cutting it true, mitering the corners and keeping the width even all the way round is slow, steady work.
Bring the top, the quilt or the pieces you have, and say what you want done. The conversation starts at the table with the cloth in front of you, because the right binding depends on the colours in the quilt, the thickness of the layers and how the quilt will be used.

Looking after a bound quilt
A well-bound edge should lie flat and carry no loose threads. Wash on a gentle cycle, dry on low heat or flat, and keep an eye on the corners, where a binding takes its first wear. A thread pulled early is a ten-minute mend. The same thread ignored becomes an open seam.
Quilts folded in the same creases for years wear at the folds, so refolding a stored quilt along a different line now and then spares the cloth. If a quilt comes out of storage with a worn corner or a loose stretch of binding, bring it in before it travels further along the edge.
