Hems, including jeans
Hemming and jeans hems in Nampa, ID
Hems including jeans, measured with the shoes you will wear and finished so the new length looks like it was always there.
The two ways a hem goes wrong
The first is the length. Trousers hemmed to a guess, or pinned in socks, end up breaking too high or dragging under the heel. Length depends on the shoe, the way you stand and the cut of the leg, so none of it can be judged from a number on a tag.
The second is jeans. A pair of jeans is recognised by its hem: the heavy, slightly twisted topstitch and the faded fold at the bottom. Cut and sew a plain new hem and the pair stops looking like jeans. That is the loss people notice most.
Both problems are avoidable, but only if the hem is planned before the first cut.

Measured with the shoes on, then your choice of hem
At ALL-SEW in Nampa, you stand in the shoes you will actually wear while the hem is pinned and checked in the mirror. For dress trousers and skirts, the new hem is pressed and finished to suit the fabric. Children's hems are left with room to be let down again.
For jeans, the choice is yours. The original hem can be kept: the extra length is folded up inside and the leg is stitched over the existing hem, so the worn edge and the topstitch stay. Or the old hem is removed and a new one is made, which is the better answer when the wear has gone too far to keep.
Hems are one of the quickest jobs on the order book. Emergency service and 24-hour turnaround are available, and pickup and delivery can be arranged when you book.
Denim thread and topstitch that match
Denim takes a heavier thread and a longer stitch than a dress shirt does, and the colour has to sit close to the factory topstitch or the repair shows from across a room. Thread is matched against the pair itself, not chosen by the label on the spool.
Thick seams at the side of the leg are the hard part of any jeans hem, because the needle has to climb several layers of cloth in a few millimetres. A seamstress who knows this slows down at those points rather than breaking the thread and leaving a skipped stitch.
